STORIES OF HUMANITY

Juicy Gesture

It’s always a great feeling when people stop their cars on the highway to ask if we’re alright because it’s a demonstration of their desire to help a fellow human being, as well as an opportunity for us to tell them about our Journey. A couple of evenings ago, as we were walking in the rain, a truck driver slowed down, but to avoid blocking the highway in bad weather, we gestured to him that we’re okay. Yesterday morning, after 2 miles into the walk, the same man recognized us, pulled over to the side of the road, and handed us a sweet-smelling cantaloupe! We were surprised, but happily thanked him and for the next 8 miles, carried our juicy gift to the RV. What a spontaneous and thoughtful act… We thank him for his contribution to humanity.
