Levon Sayadyan

Levon Sayadyan graduated High School Number 77, and attended the Film and Theater State Institute in Yerevan, where he earned a degree in Documentary Film Directing. There, he honed his talent for screenwriting and directing. For his final project, he filmed The Suffering of the Armenians, which documented the plight of the Armenians from the Sumgait Massacres and devastating earthquake of the late eighties to the still continuing Nagorno-Karabagh conflict.
At the Erebuni Cultural Center, he served as the director of Cultural Events. One of his most significant contributions at the Center was his script and direction of a play, which was performed on the occasion of the New Year. He was also an actor in this play and his talent caught the attention of some famous members of the audience. Consequently, he was invited to play the leading role of Johnny in William Saroyan’s famous 1930 play, My Heart’s in the Highlands, at the University of Education, Department of Culture. Levon also worked as a director of a political program at the Prometevs TV Studio in Yerevan.
Outside of the arts, Levon was a national Champion in swimming, reaping the First Place award in four forms.
Levon immigrated to the United States in 2001, where he worked as a director for television programs. He has served on the United Armenian Students Advisory Board since 2004, as the Chair of the Armenian Public Relations Committee.
After the Journey, Levon will produce a documentary about the project. In the future, he hopes to direct three screenplays he has written.
